How to save or print individual articles?
Every article on the site has a „Print article / Save as PDF“ button at the bottom.
Here's exactly what happens when you click it, and how to end up with a PDF saved on your device.
You'll find it at the very end of the article, right after the author bio.
IN SHORT
The button doesn't download a file by itself. It opens your browser's own print window. From there, instead of picking an actual printer, you pick "Save as PDF" as the destination — and the article is saved to your computer or phone as a PDF file.
Step by step
Works the same way in every modern browser — only the wording of the menus differs slightly.
1. Open the article and scroll to the end
The button sits below the "About the author" section, at the very bottom of the page — not in the article's header or sidebar.
2. Click "Print article / Save as PDF"
This doesn't take you to a new page. It calls up your browser's built-in print dialog, the same one you'd get from any "Print" command.
3. Choose "Save as PDF" as the destination
In the print window, find the Destination or Printer dropdown and select Save as PDF (it may also read Microsoft Print to PDF or Save to PDF depending on the system). A preview of the article updates on the right.
4. Turn on "Background graphics" (optional, recommended)
Under "More settings," enabling this keeps the site's colours, the logo, and the orange accents in the saved PDF, rather than a plain black-and-white version.
5. Click "Save," then pick a folder
Your browser asks where to save the file and what to name it. Choose a location, click Save, and the PDF is now on your device — ready to reopen, email, or print later.
By browser and device
The dialog looks a little different everywhere it appears. Quick reference for each one:
Chrome / Edge (desktop)
- Print dialog opens automatically
- Set Destination → Save as PDF
- Click Save, choose a folder
Safari (Mac)
- Print dialog opens; click Show Details if collapsed
- Click the PDF menu, bottom-left
- Choose Save as PDF, pick a folder
Firefox
- Print dialog opens automatically
- Set Printer → Save to PDF
- Click Save, choose a folder
iPhone / iPad (Safari)
- A print preview thumbnail appears
- Pinch outward on it to open the full preview
- Tap the share icon → Save to Files
Android (Chrome)
- A print preview screen opens
- Tap the dropdown at the top → Save as PDF
- Tap the download icon, choose a folder
Tip
Nothing needs to be installed. "Save as PDF" is a built-in printer option in every current browser — it just isn't always the option selected by default, so it's worth checking the destination before saving.
Tip
If you only want a paper copy, the same dialog works for that too — just pick your actual printer instead of "Save as PDF" in step 3.
