Lessons from the pandemic

Review by Tatjana Despotovic

"Treating epidemics in an accurate and holistic manner has a ripple effect. By that, I mean a cure achieved with an individual is not confined to that person alone. Proper treatment of epidemics has a collective effect – one could even say a quantum effect." This is how Jeremy Sherr's own words sum up the significance of his seminal work ‘The Homeopathic Treatment of Epidemics, Dynamics & Methodology’ in a single sentence.

JEREMY SHERR with Wenda Brewster O'Reilly : „The Homeopathic Treatment of Epidemics - Dynamics and Methodology", London 2026, 312 pages, Dynamis Books, ??$, in Europe via Emryss ??€

The rise of homeopathy in the 19th century was closely linked to its success in treating epidemics. During the great cholera epidemics, homeopathic doctors achieved significantly better results than their allopathic colleagues. The corona pandemic has shown how important homeopathic treatment of epidemics can still be in the era of vaccinations, antibiotics and intensive care.

Jeremy Sherr, who has been treating AIDS patients in East Africa with homeopathy for 18 years and thus has extensive experience with the genus epidemicus, has been accompanying affected patients and supervising their homeopaths around the world since the beginning of the pandemic, tracking the course of the disease and the reactions to a wide variety of remedies. By April 2020, he had already collected more than 350 subjective symptoms from over 300 patients, providing him with probably the largest homeopathic database for determining the epidemic remedies for COVID-19. He is now sharing his insights and immense experience in his new book.

It offers a synthesis of Sherr's analytical and creative mind, extensive research, methodology, knowledge and experience in past and currently active epidemics. He guides step by step in perceiving what is to be cured, treating it ‘as if one person', using his signature analyzing techniques and referencing. He explores in detail totality and treatments of various epidemics, focussing on COVID-19 genus epidemicus and prophylaxis, treatment of Long COVID, mRNA vaccinosis and its consequence for health, and presents the discovery of the new FARC miasm (Fungus/Aids/Radiation/Cancer) in relation to COVID-19.

As if one person

Starting point of Part 1 is § 73 of Hahnemann's Organon and the classification of diseases from stronger dissimilar disease to acute, then chronic, then moving into the epidemic. The importance of close reading of this paragraph and understanding of this classification determines a different approach, choice of symptoms and remedies for each of these diseases. The totality of the symptoms that clarify the disease are not just mixed symptoms but guide for prescribing towards the deepest totality that can be perceived (Sherr's Law no. 1, Dynamis School for Advanced Homeopathic Studies). This corresponds with Hahnemann's postulate to perceive the whole of the epidemic as one case (as if one person – for collective healing with unity), and the fact that epidemics are acute, febrile diseases that are just enlarged in totality (§ 103).

When the small group of remedies that work for the vast majority is found by means of the genus epidemics, then each individual case is treated in its uniqueness. This method requires expanding consciousness towards the bigger picture of the whole of humanity and warns against fragmented or individual symptom-based prescribing, as one patient only shows one small fragment of the collective picture of the disease. Sherr stresses the fact that treating an epidemic by treating each case individually separate from other cases that originate from the same source will not heal the root cause. For each epidemic, seen as an acute collective disease, is an attempt to correct a collective chronic condition. Each epidemic has one source, one location and one period, manifested as multiple cases of disease. Disturbance of collective vital force is an underlying cause of epidemic disease.

He points to the extreme danger of suppression of an acute collective (removing symptoms without curing the case) as it pushes it into chronic Psora, bound to explode in other, different epidemics. "Homeopathy surpasses all other methods in fighting epidemics, as it helps restore harmony on an acute level. Even greater strength lies in alleviating the underlying chronic states that lead to acute epidemic disease."
Methodology of how an epidemic is treated is comparable to conducting a proving, as each prover reflects the remedy in a particular way, depending on constitution, and each prover creates a new picture that belongs to a proving remedy. This is why sorting and classifying proving records are parallel to finding the genus epidemicus. Sherr gives an example of this: in an epidemic, one group of people represents the collective mind, another the lungs, heart, liver, etc. Once we find the genus epidemicus group of remedies, the lung people will get remedies with lung affinities, the liver people will receive the liver affinity remedies, and so on’. The larger the epidemics the more remedies are required. He classifies genus epidemicus remedies as alpha, beta, gamma remedies where alphas remain good through the many phases of epidemics, beta remedies are used less frequently but continue to work well and gamma remedies change as the epidemic progresses. This is portrayed with examples.

Extreme fullness

The second part shows how the theory was put into the practice during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it describes the development of the idea of posidemic, positive response of the united homeopathic international community working together as if one person, spreading a healing of the disease. "A posidemic can benefit from one experienced master homeopath at its core whose role is to repertorise, study and synthesise the incoming information and find the most promising remedies. One person, or a small group working together at the centre of posidemic, can more easily perceive the epidemic as a whole and find the most effective genus epidemicus"

Using numerous case studies, he demonstrates in detail how symptoms were tracked and sorted, opposite symptoms repertorised and synthesized until the epidemic remedies emerged. He presents those remedies and posology for every changing stage of the pandemic with the case work, giving the clear picture of the process.

The most difficult task, after all, is to synthesize an epidemic. "This is not about finding an emotional ‘essence’, nor is it just a sum of the symptoms. It is a clear concept that unites all symptoms – mental, general, and particular – in a central understanding that can be expressed in just a few words." Sherr's synthesis of COVID-19 in three steps demonstrates the mastery of homeopathy. He ultimately distills a wide range of different symptoms and themes experienced by COVID-19 patients from around the world into the following synthesis: "Can’t let anything out, leading to extreme fullness. Nothing else can come in. Must expel forcefully."

The high proportion of protracted cases in COVID-19 highlights the importance of constitutional therapy after acute treatment. "To be permanent, the treatment of epidemics must be followed with deeper treatment of the chronic disease, a cure that reaches miasmatic root." From his point of view COVID-19 was an acute expression and an outlet for the new modern miasm he named FARC (Fungus, Aids, Radiation, Cancer). He presents the comparative study of each component of this miasm and picture of the remedies with its affinities with relevant case illustrations.

COVID-19 epidemic remedies are further listed as remedies for Early Phases, for Omicron variants and COVID-19 prevention remedies. A separate chapter is reserved for the treatment of long COVID - how to explore and prescribe on its new totality , illustrated with cured cases. He explores remedies that follow well, remedies for vaxxed long COVID and COVID mRNA Vaccinosis, illustrated with patient's cases.

The next epidemic and the use of AI

Part 3 concerns the next steps, the analysis of an epidemic from the distance. Again, he demonstrates his synthesizing skills in search for a genus epidemicus group of remedies for the M-pox (Monkey pox) epidemic. He concludes: "Working with this new pox disease also reminds us of a fundamental truth: If you squash an acute manifestation of a deeper miasmatic disease, another similar one will appear. Smallpox has been proclaimed as a great victory for vaccination. The dreaded disease was wiped out from the planet through an intensive campaign to eliminate every last case. But while smallpox was supposedly eradicated, the underlying psora remains and gives rise to a host of epidemics which surface periodically".

The final chapters offer deeper insight into Sherr's laws and principles of epidemic practice and a brief introduction into the method of using The Circle of Elements in repertorising the symptoms of epidemics. This is a signature part of Dynamis School for Advanced Homeopathic studies training.

This monumental work shows the depth of the author's understanding and application of homeopathic principles and stands in a league of its own. It clearly proves how homeopathy shines in epidemics.

The fern within us

Review by Franz Swoboda

Jan Scholten's new book ´Autistic Ferns` is an impressive collection of provings, case histories and charactteristics of remedies. Fern remedies not only help children with autistic disorders, but also with early childhood traumas that have shaped many of us into adulthood. Among our ‘personalities’, as Scholten says, there is probably also a ‘fern personality’.

The end is coming

Review by Jürgen Hansel

Disruption, destruction and transformation are central concepts of our time. They are also the central themes of a group of homeopathic remedies that have only been studied in detail in the last three decades. Didier Lustig, one of the pioneers of this research, has now summarized the current state of knowledge of this group of remedies in his book 'The Big Book of Actinides - The Mutation Remedies'.
